Prompted by weather conditions,
Still came search for perfections
Of functional, military garments.
Autumnal rains and wintery sleet,
Instigated devising of the Hurricane;
A newly devised military cape.
As advertised by A.W. Gamage -
A specialist contractor - not only
To the water board and Admiralty.
Along with the Territorial Force
Associations and Volunteer Corps -
Offered protection, head to knees.
A New Military Cape, the Hurricane,
That in the most drenching weather,
Claimed to keep wearer utterly dry.
A versatile garment that would give
Complete water protection and all in
One hood and cape,to shield the neck.
The Hurricane cape was quite roomy
To wear over equipment and coats -
To be ideal for marching, at a 25/- cost.
