With many postmen going,
Out onto active service,
For their king and country -
Raises the question -
Is there a likelihood,
Of lady letter carriers?
Under a lady correspondent?
The drafted reply,
Of the Postmaster-General,
That there is no need,
To employ women,
On such work -
As need has not risen.
Through the Labour Exchange,
There is plenty of temporary
‘Male force’ to take place,
Of those missing postmen,
Gone to military service.
