Poem ~ Fate of a Femme Fatale - Sunday 14 November 1915

Impression sketch of Femme Fatale - by Jamie.

A new spy affair involved glamour
Of travel and marriage, between
A French Officer and a beautiful
Lady - described as adventuress.

A mysterious nameless femme
Fatale had origins in Hamburg,
Where she was born - then later
Lived her life in Berlin, until war.

While details were not yet clear
The adventuress, in first months
Of conflict, moved to live in Paris
Her nationality never questioned.

The beauty became a friend
To many French officers and
Acquired various residences
Within the capital of Paris.

Further more there were other
Homes, gained in the provinces.
This adventuress also acquired
The uses of various motorcars.

The lady of mystery had taken
To frequent travels between
Switzerland, England and Spain
But suspicions began to form.

Seen as a method to cover a trail
This adventuress, then married
A French officer - her clever
Methods had almost succeeded.

When a military official, of some
Standing, took steps and ordered
Lady’s arrest - an inquiry followed
To bring alight interesting facts.

The unnamed adventuress
Arrest in SW France, was set
To appear before a military
Tribunal on espionage charges.
