Poem ~ Turkey Ready in Beersheba - Friday, 24 September 1915

From Paris and the French News -
Via Journal des Débats -
Were Turkish maneuvers,
Intended to target Egypt in November.

An equipped army undergoing
Training, with 2000
German officers.
Across Syria with Turkish military.

Since the height of summer,
All preparations had
Been made ready,
For the new season in November.

A starting point for equipped
And well-fed troops,
In Beersheba city -
Situated on the desert's edge.

With a Turkish railway constructed,
water supplies created,
made by requisitioned
Syrian pipes and cement materials.

9 August saw the rail complete,
Under Meissner Pasha,
A German Engineer;
Cutting Lebanon forests for fuel.
