Impression sketch
of a US Submarine - by Jamie.
In the Neutral
America news,
About United
States Navy
Came the building
of several
Modern submarines.
In Bridgeport, Connecticut
state,
Tests had been
undertaken
Centering on a
new underwater
Boat, with greater
power.
Unofficial
reports had obtained
By the Navy
Department
For possibility
of such a craft -
Longer than 300
feet.
From the Naval
Department
Of the United
States
Told how Officials
had travelled
Over to Switzerland.
Where at Winterstur,
developers
Combined to
create
A new Swiss heavy
oil engine -
Being a Sulzer-Diesel.
Previously a
limited electric and
Double Gasolene
type;
Gas drove the
craft on surface
And below by electric.
A statement by
the inventor,
Simon Lake, told
how
These boats would
be complete
Towards end of
1916.
Such engines
ability will then give
A cruising radius
of miles
To number 6000,
with armaments
Of six torpedo tubes.
Lake's statement
went onto say
How these new
class
Submarines would
be a match
To any other in world.
Although
unofficial, such news
Suggested
America's
Preparation
moving away from
Neutrality into
war.
