A registered German, Joseph Clad,
In trade as a wool merchant -
Was found to possess a revolver,
Without any permit.
Joseph Clad, who lived in Shipley
Was in Bradford at the Osborne
Hotel, on Friday when he produced
The revolver.
Someone told him to put away
The gun when another man
Took the firearm from his pocket-
It was not loaded.
Nor did Mr Joseph Clad possess
Any ammunition. In his defence
Mr Clad had been a wool trader
For twenty-five years.
Mr Clad spoke of his son fighting
At the front, as another son
Was being held - an interned
Civilian in Germany.
For his actions Mr Clad was given
Choice, of either fifty-one
Days imprisonment, or take fine
Of twenty five pounds.
